AIR, The Association of Independents in Radio, Inc., in partnership with Harvestworks Digital Media Arts Center, funded by New York State Council on the Arts and National Endowment for the Arts. offered a 40-hour Sounds Elemental: Water intensives for mid- to advanced-level producers interested in honing their skills in history and craft of sound. This August intensive focused on sound construction based on the theme “water.”The Sounds Elemental intensives are designed to give audio producers an opportunity to hone their ears and stretch their creative capacity in ways that inspire their individual work and enhances the experience of listeners across the U.S.  August’s Sounds Elemental: Water producers came from various backgrounds –the experience of the producers selected for participation ranges from less than a year to more than 25. Participants included:  Roxanne Amico, Victoria Estok, Jocelyn Frank, David Goodman, Erica Heilman, Jonathan Miller, Ashley Milne-Tyte, Lu Olkowski, and Laura Spero. AIRmusewas is a compilation produced by Brenda Hutchinson that is a mixture of  Sounds Elemental  producer interviews and the ‘water themed” works that were the result of the intensive.
