Arts Residency in the Queen City on the Sound
May 19, 2016
Many thanks to Residency Unlimited and New Rochelle Business Improvement District (BID) for an upcoming 3 month arts residency starting mid June 2016. Arts at 5 Anderson Street will be both storefront/studio to six artists as well as a space for pop -up exhibitions throughout the summer. I’m excited to explore multiple aspects of research and integrate a series of projects that address power in public space and give voice and form to the ideals of New Rochelle residents through; broadcast, audio interventions, and collaborative sculpture and maybe even performance in a generous downtown storefront studio space. This new residency aims to thoughtfully explore how initiatives of urban development, rejuvenation and community planning can align with pressing concerns for the environment and future sustainability, materially as well as culturally.

Overtones & Undercurrents
September 29, 2014
Ryan Pratt and I return with a collaborative experimental composition Overtones and Undercurrents to the Riverside Drive Viaduct tunnel in Harlem for the third installment of a public art intervention series by the West Harlem Art Fund that will coincide with the Paris based Festival of Lights.
Overtones and Undercurrents will kick off the October 4th event at 4pm in the viaduct tunnel at 125th st. Utilizing the viaduct tunnel’s acoustics we will directionally project, explore, and fill the tunnel with manipulated partials from direct field recordings taken from the surrounding environment.
Should be fun — if you’re in the area stop by and say hello. Multiple performances and art events will happen throughout the evening along the viaduct corridor following our 4pm tunnel piece.

Fun little side project: Helped Steve Lambert out with his new traveling sign/game show project featured at Space One Eleven. Interviewed folks about why they voted the way they did and tried to get to the heart of the matter about a variety of topics. Here’s video from that day.

TUNNEL@Under the Viaduct
July 9, 2014
TUNNEL is a collaborative environmental sound installation by CMC/Sound Arts community members Victoria Estok, Dylan Kario, Nolan Lem, Jess Malcolm, Ryan Pratt, and Douglas Repetto. Ambient and environmental sounds from the streets, the viaduct, the river, and the park are filtered and played back inside the tunnel while visitors explore the curious acoustical properties of the large curved space.
TUNNEL was created as part of Under the Viaduct, with support from the Computer Music Center and the West Harlem Art Fund. The installation is in the large tunnel just up the hill from the Cotton Club on Riverside Drive. Enter via the stairs across the street from Floridita. Bring your ears!

Audio Postcards …
May 19, 2014
Audio Postcard was an experiment exploring how digital life influences the construction of identity. I was curious to see what would happen when four undergrad students from NYU with little to no experience manipulating sound and four MA composition students from the University of Córdoba became audio pen pals. This exchange was inspired by the Soundson program a web-based environment in which composers or students living in different countries create collective compositions through an ongoing exchange of sounds. Students from my Intro to Digital Arts class at NYU Steinhardt initiated a sound exchange with Gonzalo Biffarella’s Composition with New Technologies class at the University of Córdoba, Argentina during Spring 2014. Their audio postcard correspondence was determined by a set of conceptual rules. Every two weeks, each student gathered sounds that best captured who they are and what life was like in their home city. At the end of the semester each class group created a one minute sonic portrait of their home city from their collective audio clips.
